Fall festivals for every taste

Fall festival season is just around the corner in Shreveport-Bossier. While there are lots of reasons to visit an upcoming festival – including live music, art vendors and family activities – the food and drink available at these events is always a main attraction. Here are a few of the tastiest events on our schedule for October:

The 39th annual Red River Revel Arts Festival will be held in downtown Shreveport, Oct. 4-11. From beignets to seafood gumbo, this event is bursting at the seams with Louisiana flavors. The 6th annual BREW, an afternoon-long premier beer tasting, will return to Festival Plaza in downtown Shreveport on Saturday, Oct. 18. Featuring more than 100 beers being poured as well as food from popular local eateries, BREW is a beer lover’s dream come true. The 4th annual Herby-K’s Block Party and Benefit, a fundraiser benefiting Pet Savers of Shreveport, will be held, 1-6 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 26. Fans of the legendary Shreveport restaurant can celebrate with live music, kids’ activities and lots of great Herby-K’s food.

Shreveport's haunted tours

Most Haunted: Tour Shreveport's spookiest spots this October

Love a good ghost story? Shreveport-Bossier is home to some fantastic haunted tours, ranging from walking city tours to public ghost hunts exploring historic buildings.

Historic Haunts of Shreveport will lead a public ghost hunt at the legendary Shreveport Municipal Auditorium on Sunday, Oct. 5. “The Muni,” as it is called by locals, is reputed to be one of the most haunted buildings in the South, and was featured on the Season 9 premiere of SyFy’s hit television show Ghost Hunters. Another haunted tour guide service exploring downtown Shreveport is the Shreve Town Ghost Walk, which departs each Saturday night at 8 p.m. from 501 Texas Street. Admission to this walking tour is $10 and each walk lasts approximately 1 ¾ hours. The Shreve Town Ghost Walk season ends on Saturday, Oct. 25. On Halloween night, 6-9 p.m., special haunted tours by candlelight are also offered at the historic Logan Mansion in Shreveport. Halloween tours of the Logan Mansion are $10 each and begin every 20 minutes. The Logan Mansion is located at 725 Austin Place in Shreveport.

From 20x49.com: If you work up an appetite while hunting ghosts, a great place to dine would be Stocky’s Pizza in Haughton, said to be “the South’s most haunted pizzeria.” Get the whole story at 20x49.com.
