Take a Trip on the Wild Side of Hwy. 80

1-2 days

You can pack in a lot of the spice and excitement of Louisiana's Other Side when you take this tour of Highway 80. Start things off with a visit to Sam's Town Casino & Hotel or Eldorado Casino & Hotel. As you depart downtown Shreveport, you'll travel along the longest neon-lit bridge in the United States. You can make your first stop at the Horseshoe Casino, DiamondJacks Casino & Resort or Boomtown Casino & Hotel for a little gaming excitement. Enjoy lunch at one of the fine restaurants along Highway 80 or stop in for some souvenir shopping at Pierre Bossier Mall.

Swing on over to Barksdale Air Force Base and see history flash before your eyes at the Eighth Air Force Museum. This museum - which is a historic journey from World War I to present - features uniforms, dioramas and barracks dating back to World War II for the 2nd Wing and the 8th Air Force. More than a dozen aircraft are on display; you can even get a glimpse of a retired secret spy plane. Then visit more than 1,000 specimens of wildlife from all over the world at the Touchstone Wildlife and Art Museum only a few minutes east on Highway 80.

Whether you choose to start your day with heart pounding thrills or peaceful tranquility, Highway 80 makes life easy. The thundering of non-stop thoroughbred horseracing at Harrah's Louisiana Downs offers excitement while a canoe trip down a peaceful bayou just east of Haughton offers a chance to relax.

When you traipse down Highway 80, you get a chance to experience excitement and relaxation, both, something that's possible when you choose Louisiana's Other Side.
