SCI-PORT DISCOVERY CENTER

Sci-Port Discovery Center , with nearly 100,000 square feet of space, is a unique offering of science, discovery and fun for children and adults. It showcases an interactive laser planetarium that draws attention from all over the world. The planetarium is part of the $11.6 million, 25,000-square-foot space center addition of Sci-Port, which opened in late 2006. The interactive programs include constellation exhibits and a birth sky exhibit that allows a visitor to see what the sky looked like at his birthplace the day he was born. You can watch shows from the first floor or the balcony on the second floor of the 40-foot domed digital planetarium.

The science education museum features nearly 100 hands-on exhibits on space science, math, and astronomy. The IMAX Theater is also a key attraction, and features a variety of educational and entertaining shows. Live presentations round out the offerings.

The center offers two areas with magnificent views of downtown Shreveport, Bossier City and the riverfront. Sci-Port Discovery Center includes two plazas accommodating up to 300 guests each and a Rooftop Terrace for 100 guests. There are more than 10 areas with capacity ranging from 35 to 3,000. Facility size is 92,000 sq. ft. with a total capacity of 2,900 guests. Optional catering and free on-site parking are also offered.
