Revel in Riverfront, Holiday Entertainment

We've got a great mix of entertainment along the Red River here on Louisiana's Other Side. Whether it's live theater, film or concerts by legendary crooners or today's popular artists, you're sure to find your groove amid our sultry beat.

Christmas with Aaron Neville Horseshoe Casino & Hotel will present Christmas with Aaron Neville and his Quintet, featuring Charles Neville.

The memorable performance by the Louisiana native and multiple Grammy Award winner will be Friday, Dec. 19. Doors will open at 7 p.m. and the concert will begin at 8 p.m.

Neville's unique voice and soulful music have energized concert halls for more than four decades. From his first musical success, "Tell It Like It Is," to his most recent, critically acclaimed album, "Bring It On Home," he remains an enduringly popular artist.

Tickets are on sale for $25 and $35. Seating is reserved.

Of course the holidays don't stop at great bargains. Here in Shreveport-Bossier, we have plenty of entertainment to keep you celebrating and grooving to the festive holiday beat.

Revel in the celebration and marvel at the glamorous Radio City Rockettes and their legendary kicks at The Radio City Christmas Spectacular, presented by Capital One. The show will make its way to the CenturyTel Center in Bossier City, Dec. 15-16. The two performances will highlight the event's newest and biggest production ever with fun for the entire family.

If you're interested in classic performances, take a trip down memory lane via the big screen as The Robinson Film Center presents screenings of Gone With the Wind and Mary Poppins on rare 35mm film prints - as they were originally seen in theaters - Dec. 26-28.

The Robinson Film Center will be present Gone With the Wind - starring Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh - with an intermission, just as it was experienced by its original audiences in 1939.

The film center also will show the children's favorite Mary Poppins, starring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke, Jan. 16-18, 2009. The beloved musical tale of a magical nanny who comes to the aid of an unhappy family won five Academy Awards upon its release in 1964.

Tickets to Gone With the Wind will be available on The Robinson Film Center's website at www.robinsonfilmcenter.org, or at the film center's box office at 617 Texas St. in downtown Shreveport, starting Dec. 12. Tickets to Mary Poppins will be available two weeks in advance via the film center's website and box office.
