The Red River Revel Arts Festival to Feature Season Two Can You Duet winners

Headlining this year's Red River Revel Arts Festival is country duo Steel Magnolia. The boyfriend/girlfriend crooners
will open up the Revel on Saturday, Oct. 2. The festival runs eight days.
Steel Magnolia consists of Meghan Linsey, a Ponchatoula, Louisiana native, and Joshua Scott Jones. They won season
two of the television talent show,
Can You Duet. Subsequently, they signed a recording contract and released their debut
single, "Keep on Lovin' You", in August 2009.
The Revel, which is held at Festival Plaza in downtown Shreveport, boasts four performance stages. Many of Shreveport-Bossier's
home-grown musicians perform all week, along with national and international entertainers.
The music is always at a fever pitch and the diversity of visual art hits on all the right notes. Upwards of 100 juried artists
from around the nation show off their masterful works featuring jewelry, paintings, acrylics, clothing, pottery, photography, wood
work and much more.
If those things weren't enough to make for an amazing experience, the Revel is known for equally tantalizing food. Sink your teeth into the
expected festival foods such as funnel cakes, nachos and cotton candy. But savor chicken and sausage gumbo, fried catfish, Cajun dirty
rice, and muffalettas. Are you hungry, yet?
Make plans today to attend this nationally recognized festival, Oct. 2-9, at Festival Plaza.

Pet-Friendly Hotels Welcome Your Four-legged Family Members

According to the American Veterinary Medical Association, almost half of all pet owners in the United States think of their
pet as a member of the family. So when vacation time comes around, many of these pet owners prefer to take their pet with
them when they travel.
Some hotels recognize this fact and now have pet-friendly policies. Typically, a hotel with a pet-friendly policy will allow
a pet to stay in a hotel room for no extra charge though some do charge.
Here in Shreveport-Bossier, we understand that your pets are part of your family and you don't have to leave them behind. Some
accommodations that take pets include the Jameson Inn, Fairfield Place Bed and Breakfast, Quality Inn and Suites, La Quinta Inn
and Hilton Shreveport.

full listing of the pet-friendly hotels and their pet policies.
Of course, you'll want to take your pet out to run around and frolick. A great place for this is RiverView Park at the head of the
walking/jogging trail on Clyde Fant Parkway in downtown Shreveport. This scenic pathway offers a view of the Red River and the attractions
that have grown up on the banks of the river such as the Louisiana Boardwalk, Horseshoe Casino and Hotel, DiamondJack's Casino and Hotel,
Boomtown Casino and Hotel, Sci-Port: Louisiana's Science Center, Eldorado Casino, Sam's Town Casino, Spirit of the Red River Cruise, and
Barnwell Garden and Art Center.
