Walter B. Jacobs Memorial Park - 8012 Blanchard Furrh Road, Shreveport
Take a hike! Explore five miles of hiking trails (including one wheelchair-accessible trail), get up-close-and-personal
with a bald eagle and other residents of the birds of prey housing installation, or slither into the reptile room to meet
a rare albino rattlesnake.

Go ape at Chimpanzee Discovery Days. The National Chimpanzee Sanctuary, Chimp Haven, is located just 22 miles southwest of
Shreveport in Keithville, LA. Visit during Chimpanzee Discovery Days (May 21 and June 18, 9 a.m.-Noon) and observe the
chimpanzees in their forested habitat as you tour the sanctuary via a system of trails.

Interested in bird watching, but don't know where to begin? Get started by joining the Wild Bird Center and Shreveport Bird Study Group for
a beginner bird walk! Meet at the Wild Bird Center in the University Place Shopping Center (7034 Youree Drive Shreveport, LA) at 8 a.m.,
May 7 and May 21. Destinations may include local parks, country roads, or a great backyard. Loaner binoculars are available.
