Maps and Transportation

You may vacation in other places and find getting around a big headache, but when you visit Louisiana's Other Side, that's never a problem. We are a mix of big-city amenities and small-town ease. If you are driving – whether you have a rental or your own vehicle – you don’t have to worry about getting around our cities. You’re never more than 20 minutes from anywhere, and big-city traffic jams are just never our style.

If you prefer the independence of driving on your own, our streets are easy to navigate. If you don't arrive in your own vehicle, you can borrow one of ours. We make getting a rental car easy, just pick one up at the airport or at other convenient locations around town. And to make it even easier to find your way around, just download and print one of our maps.

If you want to leave the driving up to someone else altogether, that can be arranged. Our friendly and helpful cab drivers are ready to do your bidding. Many hotels and casinos provide shuttle service which can take the guesswork out of figuring out where you need to go. And our convenient bus system can be the answer if you’re looking for a low-cost way to take in shopping, dining and gaming.

Louisiana's Other Side is about getting you where you want to go.

NOTICE

The Louisiana Dept. of Transportation and Development provides travelers with around-the-clock, real-time traffic and road condition updates via the phone or Internet. The system, which can be accessed by dialing 5-1-1 or by visiting www.511la.org, allows callers to access up-to-date information about construction activities, weather-related road conditions and critical incidents. During an emergency evacuation, the system also will provide specific information about road conditions related to contra flow operations.

The 511 Traveler Information Service is part of a nationwide effort to provide consistent and reliable traveler information. The Federal Communications Commission designated 511 as the national traveler information phone number in July 2000, in response to a 1999 U.S. Department of Transportation petition.
