Why:     This workshop will prepare the community for strategic social media crisis communications

The Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau will be offering a hands-on Social Media Crisis Communications Workshop, Thursday, April 2 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn and Homewood Suites in Bossier City. There is no cost to attend. Complimentary lunch is included.

These tailored tabletop exercises are designed to walk public information officers, city leaders and tourist bureau staff through a hypothetical crisis scenario where law enforcement are involved and timely communications on-site and via social media are critical.

Deveney Communications, an integrated marketing firm with crisis communications expertise, will lead the workshop. A key element of the workshop will include an assessment of the crisis including volume, severity and overall scope. Participants will work through real-life scenarios and leave with communication strategies to:

  • Monitor online conversations
  • Manage the narrative
  • Disseminate factually correct information
  • Manage each respective organization’s reputation in the short and long term
  • Develop a plan to work together in the crisis
