Shreveport-Bossier Mardi Gras Media Familiarization Tour

Feb. 28-March 4, 2019

Maximum number of participants: 5

Shreveport-Bossier is home to the largest Mardi Gras parades in north Louisiana, with an estimated 585,000 parade-goers attending its four largest annual parades. Mardi Gras offerings in Shreveport-Bossier are also more family-friendly than most, with numerous daylight parades and designated family-friendly zones located along the parade routes.

The Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau will host a media familiarization tour during the 2019 Mardi Gras season. Journalists will not only be spectators hanging out and catching beads at the Krewe of Gemini Parade on Saturday, March 2, but also participants in the Krewe of Highland Parade on Sunday, March 3.

Yes, you read that right! Journalists will ride on a Mardi Gras float with locals and toss beads to thousands of screaming parade-goers in the Krewe of Highland Parade.

This tour will also include stops at some of the most popular local restaurants, as well as hands-on activities at attractions including the new Shreveport Aquarium.

Please note that all media tour applicants are vetted on a case-by-case basis in an effort to ensure that all media tours are successful, enjoyable and productive experiences. Journalists in driving distance to Shreveport-Bossier will be given first priority. This is an all-inclusive media tour. Journalists are expected to write, photograph and promote their experiences in traditional media outlets and on social media channels.

Journalists will arrive on the morning of Thursday, February 28 and depart on the morning of Monday, March 4. To apply for this tour, click here. For more information, contact Brandy Evans, vice president of communications, at bevans@sbctb.org.
