"Experience the Louisiana Food Prize in Shreveport-Bossier" is a 3.5-day media familiarization tour of the emerging culinary scene in Shreveport and Bossier City, Louisiana. During the tour, invited journalists will attend two culinary events hosted by the annual Louisiana Food Prize. In addition to food and fun at the Louisiana Food Prize, journalists will explore the city's local food and drink scene on a guided tour of restaurants, craft breweries, food trucks and more. For accepted journalists, all travel costs, hotel accommodations and food and drink costs during the tour will be covered by the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau. Participating journalists will arrive on Wednesday, Oct. 4 and depart on Saturday, Oct. 7.  

The Louisiana Food Prize Weekend begins with Come and Get It: A Wine, Food and Spirits Experience. This is a unique wine and food event with nationally recognized chefs teaming up with Shreveport-Bossier’s best and brightest culinary talent. The second event is the Louisiana Food Prize’s Battle for the Golden Fork, a local food fair and live cooking contest in which five of Shreveport-Bossier's top chefs compete for a $5,000 cash prize.

Louisiana Holiday Trail of Lights

The Louisiana Holiday Trail of Lights media familiarization tour will start in Shreveport-Bossier and wind its way through Minden, the Friendliest City in the South; Monroe-West Monroe, home of the famed Duck Dynasty clan; Natchitoches, the oldest Louisiana settlement; and Alexandria/Pineville, the heart of Louisiana.

Participating journalists will get to explore the twinkling lights in eight of north Louisiana’s most festive cities, as well as dine at some of the popular local restaurants and tour holiday-centric attractions.

Please note that all media tour applicants are vetted on a case-by-case basis in an effort to ensure that all media tours are successful, enjoyable and productive experiences. Up to six journalists will be invited to the tour. Hotel, food and a personal guide are included in this tour. Only domestic journalists will be invited and those in the Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Mississippi regions will be given first preference. Shreveport-Bossier Mardi Gras Media Familiarization Tour

Shreveport-Bossier knows how to celebrate Mardi Gras, and four journalists will be treated to an over-the-top experience that matches the flavor of Mardi Gras in the northwest Louisiana sister cities.

 

The media tour will include a spot at the Krewe of Gemini Mardi Gras Parade on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018. The next day, journalists will get to ride in the Krewe of Highland Parade. Yes, you read that right! Journalists will join in the Mardi Gras fun riding on a float and tossing beads to thousands of screaming parade-goers in the Krewe of Highland Parade.

 

This tour will also include stops at some of the most popular local restaurants, as well as hands-on activities at attractions.

 

Please note that all media tour applicants are vetted on a case-by-case basis in an effort to ensure that all media tours are successful, enjoyable and productive experiences. Journalists in driving distance to Shreveport-Bossier will be given first priority. This is an all-inclusive media tour. Journalists are expected to write, photograph and promote their experiences in traditional media outlets and on social media channels.
