National Tourism Week

We're planning for our #SBComeback, and we need your help. During National Travel and Tourism Week, May 3-9, we're asking everyone to join us in a show of support for Shreveport-Bossier's tourism and hospitality industry. Visit our #SBComeback page for downloadable graphics, videos, fact sheets and more—even an exclusive #SBComeback Facebook frame! Most importantly, please consider making a gift to the Shreveport-Bossier Hospitality Fund. Learn more about the fund here

Every year since 1983, destinations across the U.S. have come together during the first full week of May to celebrate National Travel and Tourism Week. This initiative, led by the U.S. Travel Association, aims to increase public awareness of the ways in which travel impacts the American economy as well as personal well-being and quality of life. This year, the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau—the official destination marketing organization of Caddo and Bossier Parishes—joins the ranks of thousands of destinations who are taking this annual celebration online to salute the #SpiritOfTravel.

In 2018, visitors to Shreveport-Bossier spent approximately $762 million, generating $97.63 million in state and local tax revenues. That year—the most recent year for which data is available—the tourism and hospitality sector employed approximately 10,870 people in Shreveport-Bossier, representing more than $259 million in combined earnings.

The tourism and hospitality industry in Shreveport-Bossier is big business, but it’s so much more than that. Shreveport-Bossier’s tourism and hospitality industry also improves quality of life for local residents, providing entertainment in the form of major annual festivals, resort casinos, restaurants, sporting events, and more.
