The Food
The other cuisines are meat and protein focused. Northern Louisiana’s cuisine is focused on the vegetables and crops indigenous to the region. We love our side dishes.
The Preparation
Emphasis is on simplicity and a reflection on how most of us Up North grew up having foods cooked at home. We believe in fresh ingredients, flavor, and foods found right in our backyard.
The People
The people of Northern Louisiana are as diverse as anywhere else in the state. What makes us so unique is that our foodways are a rich influence of multiple ethnicities and cultures and their influence on what we eat and how we eat it.
House Concurrent Resolution No. 88
On May 4, 2015, House Concurrent Resolution No. 88 was enrolled and signed by the Speaker of the Louisiana House of Representatives and the President of the Louisiana State Senate recognizing the culinary uniqueness of Northern Louisiana and designated an official meal…the only official meal in the state.
