April and May are busy with a variety of popular annual festivals and events in Shreveport-Bossier. In addition to major annual festivals held in downtown Shreveport's Festival Plaza, there are a number of charming, family-oriented small town festivals coming up in communities near Shreveport-Bossier.
Upcoming festivals include: Gusher Days Festival, May 7, at Earl G. Williamson Park in Oil City; Poke Salad Festival, May 9-14, in Blanchard; Mudbug Madness Festival, May 26-29, at Festival Plaza in Shreveport; Let the Good Times Roll Festival, June 17-19, at Festival Plaza in Shreveport; and the annual Sunflower Trail and Festival, June 18 in Gilliam.
The Barksdale Air Force Base Airshow features aerobatic performances including flight demonstrations by the U.S.A.F. Thunderbirds, aerobatic performers and a B-52 fly-by, April 30-May 1, at Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City. Since 1933, the base has invited the public to view vintage warbirds and state-of-the-art jets at the annual airshow.
