September is just around the corner, which means the arrival of the fall festival season in Shreveport and Bossier City. The 2nd Annual Red River Margarita Pour Off will feature more than 20 area bartenders competing for the title of best margarita mixer on Sunday, Sept. 4 in downtown Shreveport. Super Derby 37 will gallop into Harrah's Louisiana Downs in Bossier City on Saturday, Sept. 10, complete with a full day of family-friendly activities in addition to world-class thoroughbred racing. The 13th annual Highland Jazz and Blues Festival Presented by Twisted Root Burger Company will be held, 12-5 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 17 at Columbia Park in Shreveport's historic Highland neighborhood. Several fun rural festivals are also coming up in September, including the Mooringsport Cypress Festival, the Pioneer Heritage Festival and the Heritage and Harvest Tour.
