What could be cooler than a farmers' market?
- Shreveport Farmers' Market continues every Saturday morning through August 29.
- The newest local farmers market, the Bossier City Farmers Market, is at Pierre Bossier Mall each Saturday from Aug. 1 to Dec. 19.
- The Provenance Fall Farmers Markets and Concerts are in southeast Shreveport on Thursday evenings, Oct. 8-22.

Taya Kyle, wife of the late U.S. Navy Seal sniper Chris Kyle, will be the guest speaker for First Bossier’s "Honor Our Heroes Sunday" on August 30.

The Battle on the Border Football Showcase, one of the marquee sporting events in the region, is set to take place from September 10-12 at Shreveport’s Independence Stadium.

Harrah's Louisiana Downs Super Derby 36, one of the premiere races for 3-year-olds, will be held September 12.

Thrill to live thoroughbred racing at Harrah's Louisiana Downs now through Saturday, Sept. 19. Bracket races featuring the best bracket racers in the NHRA South Central Division compete for the gold and glory at Thunder Road Raceway's NHRA L.O.R.D.S. Bracket Races Sept. 18-20.

The best local and national musicians converge on the Highland Jazz and Blues Festival, September 19, in the historic Highland neighborhood of Shreveport. You will find five non-stop hours of jazz and blues greats on two stages, all for free.

Experience a day in the country on the Heritage and Harvest Tour, a self-guided tour of local homes, churches, cotton gins, country stores, a museum and delicious food. The festivities take place on September 26.

The Louisiana Film Prize has no rival in the short film festival world. You can be part of the action and help decide who gets the $50,000 top prize at the Louisiana Film Prize 2015, Oct. 1-4.

Red River Revel Arts Festival, Oct. 3-10, is a huge eight-day outdoor festival with more than 100 visual artists, local food from dozens of vendors, and music from alternative and blues to country and rock.

The official State Fair for Louisiana, Oct. 22-Nov. 8, has the largest livestock show and carnival in the state. It boasts a large midway of rides, free daily circus shows, live entertainment and some of the most unique fair food in the nation.
