Autumn in Shreveport-Bossier brings things we love – pumpkins, a nice drop in the temperature, football, falling leaves, zombies, ghosts and goblins . . .

Okay, you might not love zombies, ghosts and goblins, but there are plenty of activities for you in Shreveport-Bossier.  One of the most popular fall activities is Red River Revel Arts Festival, North Louisiana’s largest outdoor arts festival with artists from across the globe and plenty of musical entertainment. And the food – oh, yes, the food!

BREW: Shreveport’s Beer Festival, Saturday, Oct. 18, is a companion event to Red River Revel Arts Festival, and celebrates Octoberfest Louisiana-style. Tickets are limited and the event sells out every year, so buy early to be sure you get to sample more than 100 varieties of beer.

Another top regional event is the State Fair of Louisiana, Thursday, Oct. 23 – Sunday, Nov. 9. In addition to more great food, the fair has a carnival, a rodeo, livestock, and lots of great entertainment including a concert by Cole Vosbury, a finalist on NBC’s The Voice.

NBA Basketball fans won’t want to miss the Dallas Mavericks and the New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday, Oct. 23, at CenturyLink Center.  This is the final preseason game for both teams.

Lots of big-name entertainment makes its way to Shreveport-Bossier this fall. Acts like Ray LaMontagne, Sunday, Oct. 26; Mötley Crüe and Alice Cooper, Sun. Oct. 12; and country greats  Don Williams, Saturday, Oct. 11 and Merle Haggard, Friday, Oct. 10.

But, for those of you who DO love zombies, have we got a show for you! We’ll start the list with the Downtown Shreveport Zombie Walk, Saturday, Oct. 18, where the mostly dead, undead and really, most sincerely dead are invited to shuffle through downtown Shreveport.

Ghosts of the Municipal Public Ghost Hunt, Sunday, Oct. 5, will explore the historic landmark led by Louisiana Spirits North Chapter, a team of paranormal investigators.

Lots of mysterious happenings seem to back up local legends about the Logan Mansion. Is it really haunted? Find out for yourself at the Logan Mansion’s Halloween Night Tours, Friday, Oct. 31.

Doctor Blood's Library Macabre, A Vision of Literary Fright, Friday, Sept. 12 – Friday, Oct. 31, will feature some of history's more famous literary tales depicted in gruesomely fantastic and disturbingly unique artwork, including Frankenstein, Edgar Allen Poe, Rosemary's Baby, Dracula and more.
