Mardi Gras is the greatest free party on Earth!
Grab your bag and get ready to yell “Throw me something, Mister,” for one of Shreveport-Bossier’s biggest celebrations of the year – Mardi Gras.
From tons of beads, mouth-watering king cake in every flavor imaginable and shades of purple, green and gold décor to family fun parades, glitzy parties and glamorous balls, there’s nothing like Mardi Gras season in northwest Louisiana.
More than 400,000 parade-goers get in on the Mardi Gras fun, which kicks off with the Twelfth Night Celebration, Jan. 7, at the Bossier Civic Center and wraps up with the Texas Street Bridge Closing Ceremony on Fat Tuesday, Feb. 21, packed with plenty of fun events in between. The season gets into full swing with the Krewe of Centaur parade, Feb. 11 and the Krewe of Gemini parade, Feb. 18, featuring exquisite, colorful floats and loads of unique throws. And don’t miss the Krewe of Harambee Mardi Gras Parade as they celebrate African American history with their annual MLK/Mardi Gras parade, Jan. 16, which coincides each year with the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
