Leading up to the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl, Shreveport-Bossier gears up for an exhilarating week of family-friendly events. The city comes alive with a vibrant Mardi Gras parade, Coca-Cola Fan Fest, a marching band battle, a Taylor Swift tribute band concert and more!

The annual Fellowship of Christian Athletes Breakfast, presented by the Northwest Louisiana FCA chapter on Thursday, December 14, kicks off the festivities. This tradition welcomes the participating Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl teams, coaches, administration, and the public. This breakfast is a chance to connect with inspiring individuals and hear their stories of overcoming adversity and achieving success. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased here.

Embrace the spirit of Mardi Gras at Rally on the Red on Friday, December 15. Enjoy the dazzling spectacle of the Mardi Gras Preview Parade, a mesmerizing display of elaborate floats and infectious Mardi Gras cheer. As the parade winds from the Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets through the East Bank District of Bossier City, visitors can marvel at the captivating floats of local Krewes.

Following the parade, prepare to be blown away by the heated Battle of the Bands as two high school bands compete to groove the audience with lively melodies and synchronized movements.

As the final notes of the Battle of the Marching Bands fade, a dazzling fireworks display will transform the night sky into a fantastic scene of lively colors. This spectacle will set the stage for an unforgettable Taylor Swift tribute band concert at Hurricane Alley, an outdoor music venue with access to three restaurants and bars for food and drinks.

On Saturday, December 16, the gameday excitement kicks off early at the Coca-Cola Fan Fest, where interactive games, face painting, and a chance to meet your favorite team mascots await in the Silver Lot outside Independence Stadium. Featuring local food trucks, refreshing drinks, and a special appearance from Santa Claus. At 8:15 p.m., the epic showdown begins between the Cal Bears and Texas Tech, the Big 12 and the Pac-12, as they vie for victory under the lights of the Independence Stadium.
