Shreveport-Bossier COVID-19 update: Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards has instituted a gradual reopening of many businesses with occupancy restrictions, enhanced sanitation, social distancing, personal protection equipment and other appropriate protection measures necessary to protect the health and safety of the people in Louisiana. Although many businesses have been approved for limited reopening, some nonessential businesses will remain closed to the public. Before you visit a business, please call to confirm that they are open, and to find out what restrictions are being enforced.
The Shreveport-Bossier region is known as "Sportsman's Paradise" for good reason. From fishing and camping on Cypress Black Bayou to hiking the trails at Walter B. Jacobs Memorial Nature Park, there are lots of opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors in Shreveport-Bossier. Red River National Wildlife Refuge is a popular destination for bird-watching. The American Rose Center, America's largest park dedicated to roses, is a great place to walk or jog among the roses. The Boom or Bust Byway, a popular scenic byway that passes through Caddo and Bossier Parishes, is an excellent way to see local lakes, parks and small towns. Shreveport-Bossier is also home to some excellent public golf courses, including the fantastic Querbes Park in the heart of Shreveport.
